Piyawat Louilarpprasert is one of eight Resident Composers selected for the 2022 Mizzou International Composers Festival from a total of 532 applicants from 49 countries. Mizzou New Music Initiative names Andrea Luque Káram new Managing Director, replacing Interim Managing Director Jason Thorpe Buchanan

The University of Missouri School of Music has hired Andrea Luque Káram as the Managing Director of the Mizzou New Music Initiative (MNMI), effective August 1, 2022. Ms. Karam is replacing Jason Thorpe Buchanan, who served as Interim Managing Director of MNMI beginning February 7, 2022. 2022 Missouri Summer Composition Institute Overview

From June 11th through the 18th, the 2022 Missouri Summer Composition Institute brought together 16 young Missouri composers for a full week of work creating new music on the University of Missouri campus. MICF Update: Laraaji replaces William Basinski — joins Katina Bitsicas and Onishi-Beis Duo for July 29 concert

Due to health-related issues, William Basinski will not perform at the July 29th Dismal Niche / Mizzou Interational Composers Festival concert at Studio 4 at McKee Gymnasium. Celestial-ambient music pioneer Laraaji will now headline the 7:30 pm concert, which will also feature new media artist and Mizzou Assistant Professor Katina Bitsicas, and the Onishi-Beis Duo. Resident Composer Spotlight: Oswald Huỳnh

Oswald Huỳnh is one of eight Resident Composers selected for the 2022 Mizzou International Composers Festival from a total of 532 applicants from 49 countries. Huỳnh is a composer and bassoonist from Portland, Oregon. He has a Bachelor of Arts from Lewis & Clark College and a Master of Music from the University of Missouri. During his time at Lewis & Clark, Huỳnh was presented the Rena J. Ratte Memorial Award, the highest academic honor given to students, for his compositional work at the college. His principal teachers include Stefan Freund, Carolina Heredia, Texu Kim, and Michael Johanson.
