MNMI releases schedule for Mizzou International Composers Festival

The Mizzou New Music Initiative has released the schedule for the 2026 Mizzou International Composers Festival, which takes place Monday, July 20 through Saturday, July 25 in Columbia, Missouri. Public events run from July 21-25. Admission is free. Internationally Acclaimed Composer/ Conductor/Choral Director Dr. André Thomas to Lead Performance of His Gospel Compositions by Mizzou Choruses and Symphony Orchestra on November 20

Internationally acclaimed composer, conductor, choral director, and author Dr. André Thomas will be in residence November 16-21 at the University of Missouri School of Music, where he will provide composition lessons, lead choral conducting masterclasses, and rehearse Mizzou’s choirs and orchestra in preparation for a major concert on November 20 by the Choral Union Symphonic Chorus, University Singers, Concert Chorale, and the University Symphony Orchestra. The concert is sponsored in part by the Mizzou New Music Initiative.

Chicago-Based Percussion Ensemble Beyond This Point to Perform “Musician Minus Instrument” October 25 at Sinquefield Music Center

Beyond this Point, a Chicago-based percussion ensemble, will present the concert “Musician Minus Instrument” that explores musical expression beyond instruments and expands what it means to be a musician and performer on October 25 at 7:30p.m. at the University of Missouri School of Music’s Sinquefield Music Center. Beyond This Point comprises percussionists John Corkill, Adam Rosenblatt, and Rebecca McDaniel, a former member of the Mizzou New Music Ensemble. They transform the live performance experience by presenting adventurous programs that synthesize musicalperformance with other creative disciplines.
