Mizzou Music Composition Alum Nikolaus Schroeder Awarded Prestigious Barlow General Commission
University of Missouri graduate Nikolaus Schroeder has received a 2024 Barlow Endowment General Commission to write a new intermedia work for Kali Ensemble, a contemporary music collective based in the Hague, the Netherlands. Schroeder graduated from Mizzou in 2020 with a Master of Music in Composition degree. The new music group [Switch~ Ensemble] will do a “virtual residency” this spring for the Mizzou New Music Initiative, culminating in a online concert featuring works by Mizzou student composers. The concert at 8:30 p.m. on Sunday, May 2 will include new works by Mizzou’s Santiago Beis, Luis Bezerra, and Oswald Huynh, as well as music by Chris Chandler and Zachary James Watkins. American Wild Ensemble to perform in concert

The American Wild Ensemble will perform in a concert presented by the Mizzou New Music Initiative at 7:30 p.m. Sunday, October 18 outside the Sinquefield Music Center on the University of Missouri campus in Columbia. Mizzou faculty ensemble ZouM to perform Friday, September 8 in Columbia and Saturday, September 9 in St. Louis
The Mizzou faculty collective ZouM will showcase new music from six living composers with performances next weekend in Columbia and St. Louis. DRAX, the duo of percussionist Megan Arns and saxophonist Leo Saguiguit, will return to the Mizzou International Composers Festival this year as guest artists for the “Mizzou New Music” concert on Friday, July 28 at the Missouri Theatre. Tickets for the 2017 Mizzou International Composers Festival (MICF) will go on sale at 10:00 a.m. CDT on Friday, May 26.
