MNMI releases schedule for Mizzou International Composers Festival

The Mizzou New Music Initiative has released the schedule for the 2026 Mizzou International Composers Festival, which takes place Monday, July 20 through Saturday, July 25 in Columbia, Missouri. Public events run from July 21-25. Admission is free.

The schedule is as follows:

Tuesday, July 21, 7:30 p.m., Sinquefield Music Center (SMC 130)
Distinguished Guest Composers Jlin and Karola Obermüller deliver lecture presentations on their works and careers

Wednesday, July 22, 7:30 p.m., Sheryl Crow Concert Hall (SMC 132)
New-music quartet Yarn/Wire performs works by Sarah Hennies and Steve Reich alongside world premieres by Dominick DeStefano and Selim Göncü

Thursday, July 23, 7:30 p.m., Historic Missouri Theatre
MICF Resident Ensemble Alarm Will Sound performs the music of Karola Obermüller and Brittany Green alongside world premieres by Jlin and Utku Asuroglu

Friday, July 24, 7:30 p.m., Sheryl Crow Concert Hall (SMC 132)
The Mizzou New Music Ensemble performs works by Jlin, Karola Obermüller, and John Orfe. Guest musicians from the Mizzou Percussion Ensemble perform music by Jlin, Karola Obermüller with Peter Gilbert, and Resident Composer Inga Chinilina

Friday, July 24, 9 p.m., Sinquefield Music Center (SMC 130)
Afterparty headlined by RP Boo and co-presented by Dismal Niche

Saturday, July 25, 7:30 p.m., Historic Missouri Theatre
Eight World Premieres, featuring the music of our Resident Composers: Danae Venson (Houston, Texas), Arjan Singh Dogra (New York City, New York), Dean Wibe (Cedar Rapids, Iowa), Yuting Tan (Singapore), Paul Novak (Chicago, Illinois), Augustina Crespo (Buenos Aires, Argentina), Inga Chinilina (Moscow, Russia), Ihlara McIndoe (Ōtepoti Dunedin, Aotearoa New Zealand).
