Composers Festival spotlight: Khemia Ensemble
Khemia Ensemble in 2021 will be part of the Mizzou International Composers Festival for the the third consecutive year, performing as part of the “Mizzou New Music” online concert on Wednesday, July 28. After a year in which the COVID-19 pandemic forced last-minute changes in programming, the Mizzou International Composers Festival (MICF) is back in 2021 in a more familiar form. Presented Monday, July 26 through Saturday, July 31 by the Mizzou New Music Initiative (MNMI) and the University of Missouri School of Music, the twelfth annual MICF will showcase the world premieres of new works from nine resident composers and more, with all four concerts streamed online for free. Mizzou student composers during virtual residency
The new music group Khemia Ensemble will perform new works by five student composers in an online concert as part of a virtual residency this month at Mizzou. Mizzou’s 2020 Summer Composition Institute to proceed online
Following the policies announced by the University of Missouri, this year’s Missouri Summer Composition Institute, scheduled from Monday, June 21 through Saturday, June 27, will take place entirely online. The high school students and incoming first-year college students participating in the program still will receive extensive personal instruction and interaction with Mizzou faculty, and will be able to hear the Khemia Ensemble bring their compositions to life.
