Haley Myers, Tim Pilcher A science documentary with a musical score by two Mizzou alumni has proved to be a major hit with online viewers, this month passing one million views on YouTube. Living Soil, a documentary funded by the national not-for-profit Soil Health Institute, features music written by Haley Myers, a pianist and composer who graduated from Mizzou in 2016 with degrees in music and geography, plus additional works for solo guitar by Tim Pilcher, a musician and sound designer who earned his degree in Spanish at Mizzou. Mizzou New Music Ensemble playing works by Mizzou composers past and present on Monday, October 16 at Whitmore Recital Hall
The Mizzou New Music Ensemble‘s first concert of the 2017-18 season will feature music from two Mizzou alumni, one new faculty member, and more. The concert will take place at 7:30 p.m. Monday, October 16 at Whitmore Recital Hall on the Mizzou campus. Admission is $5 for the general public, free for Mizzou faculty, students and staff with ID. Works to be performed will include “Lus in Bello” by Carolina Heredia, who this fall joined the University of Missouri faculty as the Mizzou New Music Initiative’s new postdoctoral fellow. The World Chess Hall of Fame and the Mizzou New Music Initiative will present the world premieres of three new compositions inspired by the work of St. Louis visual artist Bill Smith in “The Sound of Art at the World Chess Hall of Fame” at 7:00 p.m. Saturday, May 4 at the WCHOF, 4652 Maryland Ave in St. Louis.
