Spotlight on Francisco Cortez-Alvarez
The inaugural Mizzou New Music Summer Festival will feature the world premieres of new works from eight resident composers selected to be part of the event from a group of more than 120 applicants from around the world. Spotlight on Alarm Will Sound
The inaugural Mizzou New Music Summer Festival is fortunate to have Alarm Will Sound (pictured) as our resident ensemble. About the Mizzou New Music Initiative
The Mizzou New Music Summer Festival is just one part of the Mizzou New Music Initiative, which brings together a diverse array of programs intended to position the University of Missouri School of Music as a leading center in the areas of composition and new music. Tickets are now on sale for the inaugural Mizzou New Music Summer Festival, which will be held Monday, July 12 through Sunday, July 18 in Columbia, MO. Welcome to the blog of the Mizzou New Music Summer Festival. Here, you'll find information on the festival, the participating composers and musicians, the Mizzou New Music Initiative, and much more. The charter members of our blogging team are William J. "Billy" Lackey, Admissions and Publicity Coordinator for the University of Missouri School of Music (and a composer himself) and Dean Minderman, a Mizzou alumnus, musician and music journalist based in St. Louis.
