An afterparty featuring DJ Maxubishi and Chicago Footwork electronic music producer RP Boo will be held immediately following the Mizzou New Music Concert on Friday, July 24 in the Sinquefield Music Center‘s Room 130.
Maxubishi
Maxubishi is a Columbia, Missouri, DJ whose path started accidentally, digging through dollar bins while tagging along on resourcing trips for his wife’s vintage clothing shop, Maude Vintage. What began as just digging turned into a full-blown creative practice shaped by curiosity, instinct, and a love for the rooms in which he’s asked to play.
A true accidental DJ, Maxubishi approaches every set with a digger’s mindset rather than a genre agenda. His vinyl-only selections move freely across eras and moods, creating warm, human, and intuitive musical narratives.
Rooted in Columbia’s creative community, Maxubishi brings an exploratory, analog‐minded energy to every room he plays — guided by feeling and affect and grounded in the joy of discovery.
RP Boo
RP Boo – born Kavain Space – is a man who is revered and respected amongst the dance music cognoscenti. Starting in the Chicago dance and house music community during the 1990s, he has since earned the respected title of “Godfather of Footwork,” the fast, repetitive, rhythmically-syncopated music and dance style that’s a grandchild of Chicago house. With a consistent catalog on Planet Mu, RP Boo continues to bring his dynamic and engaging sets to crowds all over the world.
