A look back at the 2022 Mizzou International Composers Festival concerts

The 2022 Mizzou International Composers Festival returned to live concerts after two years of online-only performances at the 2020 and 2021 MICFs. If you attended the live MILF concerts presented at the Missouri Theater, and at Sheryl Crow Hall at the Sinquefield Music Center the last week of July, you experienced firsthand the energy and excitement of these outstanding performances.

Let’s take a look back at video recordings of four of these concerts.

On Monday, July 25th, The MICF kickoff concert at Sheryl Crow Hall featured resident Mizzou students performing works by Stephen Landy, María Disandro, JT Wolfe, Josè Martinez, Andrew Wiele, and 2022 MICF Guest Composer Angélica Negrón.

On Wednesday, July 27th, the Mizzou New Music Ensemble and the Mizzou Faculty Trio performed works by Mizzou student composers Santiago Beis, Emily Shaw, and MICF guest composer Angélica Negrón, as well as a Mizzou Faculty Trio performing Mizzou New Music Institute Artistic Direcot Stefan Freund‘s Triodances (2005) and Don Freund‘s Triomusic (1980).

On Thursday, July 28, Alarm Will Sound, featuring 2022 MICF Guest Composer Meredith Monk , members of Meredith Monk & Vocal Ensemble and the University of Missouri Choirs, presented a concert at the Missouri Theater.

The final concert of the 2022 MICF took place Saturday, July 30 at the Missouri Theater. Alarm Will Sound performed world premieres of compositions by the eight Resident Composers chosen for the 2022 MICF.
