Mizzou New Music Initiative seeks applications for Managing Director position

The University of Missouri School of Music seeks a director to manage all of the Mizzou New Music Initiative (MNMI) activities. The new Managing Director will fill the role held by Jacob Gotlib from six years from 2016 through early 2022, and current Managing Director Jason Thorpe Buchanan (interim).

Managing Director duties include:

• Working and communicating with external artists,

• Coordinating MNMI community composition programs,

• Arranging logistics for several on-campus programs,

• Serving as the primary organizer for the annual Mizzou International Composers Festival (MICF).

The Managing Director will also work with the administration and the composition faculty of the School of Music to strategize future events. Opportunities for artistic output include collaborating on the programming and assisting with guest artist selections. Depending on the candidate’s qualifications, there is also an opportunity to teach one course a year.

Qualifications

Minimum qualifications:  MM in Music.

Candidates will be evaluated on the highest degree earned.
